Are You an Innovator
• Number of questions: 23
• Time required: 5-6 minutes

In his book, The 4 Routes to Entrepreneurial Success, John B. Miner details the four major entrepreneur personality types and the factors that can lead those personalities to success or failure.

  • Personal Achiever
  • Super Salesperson
  • Real Manager
  • Expert Idea Generator

Miner, who studied the art and skills of being an entrepreneur for more than two decades, created the following survey. Take your time and answer each question as honestly as possible to find out what kind of innovator you are. Keep in mind that only the top quarter to one-third of established entrepreneurs would answer "very much" to the following questions.

Rate your attitude and ability for each question using the following scale:

Very Much — You exhibit this characteristic with a great deal of consistency. (For example, you work out seven days a week.)
Sizable — You exhibit the trait somewhat less than "Very Much," but to a degree that is well above average. (You work out five times a week.)
Less — You exhibit the characteristic to a degree that is less than "Sizable." (You work out three times a week, still above average.)

Very Much Sizeable Less

1. Need to achieve
2. Desire for feedback
3. Desire to plan and set goals
4. Strong personal initiative
5. Strong personal commitment to the organization
6. Belief that one person can make a difference
7. Belief that work should be guided by personal goals, not those of others
